Mid-America Arts Alliance is proud to announce the return of Artist INC in three communities—Houston, Texas; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Wichita, Kansas—in spring 2023. Artist INC is a professional development program that connects artists of all disciplines to tools, resources, and opportunities necessary to develop their entrepreneurial skills and strengthen their artistic practices.

Applications are now open for Artist INC for spring 2023. The deadline for the online application is January 17, 2023.

Houston
Partner Organization: Fresh Arts
4:00–7:00 p.m., Wednesdays, March 22–May 17, 2023, at SESH Coworking, 2808 Caroline Street, Ste. 100, Houston, Texas.

Little Rock
Partner Organization: Arkansas Arts Council
6:00–9:00 p.m., Tuesdays, March 28–May 16, 2023, at Brandon House, 12120 Colonel Glenn Road, Plaza II: Ste. 6400, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Wichita
Partner Organization: Harvester Arts
6:30–9:30 p.m., Tuesdays, March 21–May 2, 2023, at Harvester Arts, 215 Washington N, Wichita, Kansas.

M-AAA’s program is designed to address the specific professional and entrepreneurial challenges that artists of all disciplines face in their practices. Led by a team of five trained peer facilitators and designed for up to twenty-five participants, artists learn and grow together through artist facilitator mentoring, small group activities, large group discussions, and the opportunity for networking with other artists.

Artists are selected for Artist INC through a competitive panel process that looks at the quality of work and readiness for the program. The selection process also looks at the diversity of the seminar cohort to ensure diversity in all its definitions, including demographics (gender, age, and ethnicity) and artistic discipline.

The seminars are most effective when the artists reflect a rich mix of art forms that include visual, performing, literary, and film. In most cities, artists are commonly siloed by discipline, and Artist INC may be one of the few opportunities to learn and collaborate with each other.
