Artists 360 Alumni Join Forces for Arkansas Exhibition

By Elizabeth Snell

Three light-skinned female presenting individuals wear leotards and sheer draped fabric in poses that appear symbolic and dramatic. The people in the middle and left have burgundy fabrics and on the right has green. There is a white backdrop.

Artists are not just creators; they are entrepreneurs, change makers, and community builders. When they come together to share stories, ask questions, and learn from their peers, they not only create a supportive network of resources and collaborators, they make an impact.

Because when you bring artists together, magic happens.

That’s what a group of seven artists discovered in Northwest Arkansas through the Artists 360 program. M-AAA’s Artists 360 program helps artists succeed by teaching entrepreneurial skills, giving one-on-one coaching sessions, and more. These artists took those lessons and fueled their practice, their arts businesses, and their connections in their communities.

Artists 360 alumni Stephanie Payton, Sabine Schmidt, Briseida Ochoa, Sky Maggiore, Christian Gerard, Tomoko Kashiwagi, and Er-Gene Kahng opted to join forces to create an exhibition featuring their Artists 360 projects. This showcase brings their diverse projects to the forefront, celebrating the impact of the program on their artistic journeys and highlighting the transformative power of Artists 360 beyond its grant period.

Organized independently by the artists, led by the initiative of Stephanie Payton, artist and Arts On Main ceramics studio manager, the exhibition provides a glimpse into the thriving artistic talent of Northwestern Arkansas and the River Valley. Their exhibition opens January 12 at the Arts On Main gallery located in Van Buren, Arkansas.

The featured works span a range of media, including photography, ceramic 3D printing, collage, live music, and more.
