Introducing Future Pathways: A New Virtual Workshop Series for Arts Leaders
By Elizabeth Snell

The arts and culture sector thrives on creativity, vision, and passion. However, the demands of leadership, sustainability, and navigating an ever-evolving landscape can be overwhelming.
That’s why Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) is launching a new, three-part virtual workshop series designed to equip artists, creative businesses, and arts organizations with essential tools to strengthen resilience, foster growth, and build community.
Why Future Pathways?
In today’s rapidly shifting arts ecosystem, the ability to adapt and sustain creative initiatives is more crucial than ever. Arts leaders and nonprofit managers face mounting pressures, from financial challenges to increasing workloads and mental fatigue. M-AAA’s new workshop helps arts leaders respond to these realities, offering expert-led sessions and resources to address key topics such as sustainability, burnout, crisis communications, and fundraising.
By providing practical strategies and shared learning experiences, Future Pathways empowers arts leaders to navigate challenges with confidence while fostering a culture of well-being and innovation within their organizations.
Why Now?
Recent years have underscored the need for stronger support systems within the arts community. From the effects of the pandemic to ongoing funding uncertainties, arts professionals are seeking sustainable ways to continue their work and build their networks without compromising their health and creativity.
Our first workshop, Future Pathways: Managing Sustainability and Burnout with Alice Berry, directly addresses one of the most pressing issues faced by arts leaders today: stress and its impact on decision-making, creativity, and overall well-being.
