M-AAA Celebrates Vital Funding From the NEA

Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) is the recipient of a $1,332,175 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) under its Art Works: State & Regional Partnerships funding schedule for July 1, 2017 to June 20, 2018.
The grant increased by $120,875, from $1,211,300 for the same period last year. Todd Stein, CEO of Mid-America Arts Alliance, said, “In light of the national dialogue regarding federal funding for the arts, we are especially grateful for the continued support from the National Endowment for the Arts. This funding will assist individual artists through professional development and grantmaking, traveling exhibitions, performing artists, and presenters throughout our region. Funding from the NEA is critical to our ability to provide arts and cultural experiences to predominately rural and underserved communities, which too often lack access to cultural assets.”
Mid-America Arts Alliance works collaboratively to provide more art to more people across its six states of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas, as well as supporting its national traveling exhibition program, ExhibitsUSA. Across M-AAA’s region, the NEA awarded $8,469,375 via ninety-two grants to arts organizations, universities, communities, and other creative enterprises. These grants support activities that positively impact the economy, create a higher quality of life, and promote educational programs in communities—large and small—throughout M-AAA’s region.
“The arts are all around us, enhancing lives in ways both subtle and obvious, expected and unexpected,” said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. “Supporting projects like the ones in M-AAA’s region offers more opportunities to engage in the arts every day.”
